Hello!

Doctor has told me to slow down and take time out for myself. I’m looking for ideas on stress relief? Thought I might consider Yoga. What do other mums do?

  • How have you been going with this mom143044 ?

  • CHOCOLATE!! And a cup of tea in a peaceful environment.

I think it’s all about having something you enjoy whether it’s an activity or food and making time to do that thing without interuption.

I also found diffusing essential oils helps. Or you can get a locket to wear that has a pad in it that you put the essential oils on.

  • I go for a walk without my phone or any distractions

  • Listening to my favourite music always puts me in a good mood and reduces stress.

  • Personally, I have just started taking guitar lessons. But really, for me, the best way to manage my stress is to simply ensure I get adequate sleep as a priority and to make sure I stay hydrated.

  • I do yoga, that’s good. I also go for long walks. And then there’s putting on a cd and singing along with it

  • When I start to get worked up over something I stop and ask myself “Is it really that important?” and the answer will usually be “No.” I guess it’s a way of looking at the big picture and realising we get so stressed over little things.

  • Yoga Is great for the mind and body, I find meditation helps me too

  • Yoga is a great idea. The breathing really calms my mind and I generally feel lighter, if that makes sense, after doing yoga. Definitely worth a shot I reckon :)

  • Hi there, sorry to hear you’re stressed. Hope you find the stress reliever that suits you.
    Think there are many ways.
When I’m really stressed and need a quick way of relaxing, I go outside and lay on the grass to watch the clouds and breath deeply and do some exercises to relax the different groups of muscles in my body. Or sometimes just sitting in a chair face towards the sun, focusing on prayer.
Other ideas like gardening, painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, exercise, bush walk etc. can be great to relax as well. And don’t underestimate the power of social contacts ! Catch up with a friend for a cuppa and sharing your stories works wonders for me as well. A phone call or skype can work as well

  • Hi, Stress can no only affect the individual, but the whole family, especially when you are grouchy and not being your self. I love the fellow posts of going out side and getting so much needed fresh air and sunshine. I LOVE to use essential oils as well. for me I use Lavender, peppermint and Lemon, which helps me relax and uplifting at the same time, this also helps me with my headaches I get when I am stressed at the same time. However, the sun is FREE, go for a walk if you can, or just go outside, close your eyes, and breath in the beautiful air, while listening to all the lovely sounds of nature. You can even try and see how many things you can hear while your eyes are closed. I hope this helps. Regards.

  • Just getting outdoors does wonders for me, i’m lucky to live near the botanical gardens which is my place to go when im super stressed.

  • Also; I save up and treat myself to a day spa session whenever reach the funds target. It is heavenly and relaxing and something just for me!

  • I find the best relief of stress is to do something you absolutely love to do – be it reading, cooking, sewing, gardening – when you are in a happy place, your mind is in a happy place too! Meditation and yoga are good ways to tune in to your body and help ease anxiety; and a Lavender scented bath or candle and some soft music is always guaranteed to reduce my stress levels. Apparently, drinking black tea or chewing gum helps to reduce cortisol level as well.

  • Doing something you enjoy that is relaxing and fun helps!
