Hello!

When my brother was little, my great-grandmother used to sing a song to him, which went something like this … “Underneath a table on the kitchen floor, on a sofa upside down, happy and contented we adore, the little king without a crown. He’s a little trouble-maker, when it’s time to go upstairs, begging for that extra minute, when it’s time to rest his sleepy head”. I’m not sure if those are the exact words, but if not, it’s very similar to that, and I’m pretty sure there’s more words to the song than I’ve written. Does anyone know this song, and all the words to it? My great-grandmother is no longer with us, so I can’t ask her. I’ve Googled it, but can’t find any reference to it. any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi, i know you posted this years ago. Not sure if your still looking. Its called ‘the little king without a crown’ by ross parker. Vera lyn sang a version.
    Lyrics:
Some kids have a life of ease, with toys and everything, they never really have to do without.
This one isnt hard to please, he takes what fortune brings, but he’s a happy fella there no doubt.
Underneathe the table on the kitchen floor, on a soap box upside down. That’s his castle and his word is law. The little king without a crown.
There he’s in his glory, he must be all vein, dressed in daddy’s dressing gown.
With his clothes peg soldiers on parade. The little king without a crown.
He’s a little trouble maker. When its time to go upstairs. Pleading for some extra mintues, while he settles his own affairs.
Underneathe the table on thekitchen floor on a soap box upside down. Happy and contented we adore. The little king without a crown.
    ………..
    Hope this reaches you.
