Hello!

So we are thinking of buying some land out of Traralgon. Wondering if anyone knows the area? Is it a good place to raise my young kids?

  • Traralgon is nice. There is a lot there. At the end of the day you need to find what area suits you and your family. No area is without issue.

  • I’ve only ever driven through. Seems like a nice town though

  • A lovely little town from what I’ve read since seeing this post

  • I’ve driven through, twice, earlier this year. But I don’t have any info on what it’s like to live there

  • I have heard of it but never been there personally.
Friends have said it is a great country town & ideal for those wishing to escape the rat race.
Maybe see if they have a Facebook community page where some locals could give you some opinions?
    Best of luck!

  • Thanks for asking this interesting question; some interesting answers too. Love to discover new places.

  • I live very close to Traralgon and yes the area (Morwell/Traralgon etc) is a great place to bring up kids and live. It is rural but has good medical and education services are available and we are not that far from the city. beaches or the snow.

  • I’ve driven through Traralgon & surrounds many times & I’ve known of a few people who live there & although it’s quite lovely, it does have a general lower socio-economic population. There’s nothing wrong with that in itself but it does depend on what opportunities you want to be able to give your kids throughout their childhood & beyond.
The area’s lovely & there’s many other towns within a short drive. I’ve known people who have moved to Melbourne to attend uni from that area so long as you’re happy for your kids to move out at 18 years of age (which could happen in any country area that doesn’t boast a uni or doesn’t have the courses they’re interested in) if they decide to go to uni.

  • Its a quiet place to live ive heard. Its on the way to Lakes Entrance.

  • I have family in Gippsland and find Traralgon handy for decent shopping (country wise!) and a reasonable distance from Melbourne. Good luck!

  • We’ve only stopped there passing through on holidays, it seems like a nice place but then again we don’t live there. I guess you have done a Google search and read the reviews? Always a good place to start, getting the inside info from people that actually live there. Hope someone comes to comment here that knows the place well to help you out.
