Hello!

My daughter needs The Outsiders by SE Hinton for next year and I’m after a cheap buy, does anyone know where I can purchase this book on the cheap, doesn’t matter if it’s used but has to be in good condition, thanks for your help.

  • Yep, here you go – http://bookgoose.com.au/Search?q=the+outsiders

That will tell you all the bookstores that sell it and how much

  • My eldest daughter had this at high school and she is 45 this year! I read it and enjoyed it.

  • I’ve got a copy on my bookshelf from when I was at school :/ It’s old! Good to see they’re still using it at school. You could have my copy for free :)

  • That book is the cheapest buy ever! Spend a day going around various Salvo’s and Vinnies stores and I can almost guarantee you will find one, I’ve seen Rumble Fish and The Outsiders and other SE Hinton novels in them heaps of times. It’s been printed so many times as it’s been on the school reading list since I was in high school in the 90’s it’s super common in the second hand and charity stores. I wouldn’t bother with ebay or a second hand store, put the time into doing the op shop rounds

  • I suggest ringing around second hand book shops and I have found bargains at charity shops too. Many people donate unwanted gifts/books at these shops. Good luck!

  • try e bay or amazon .com or type the title into your web browser and hopefully from either of these you may be able to buy and have shipped within a few days. If you have an E Reader you can buy and download.

  • In bookworld. They’ve got great prices. If you become a bookworld member (easy and free) you get 5% off. It’s a pity they’ve added a delivery fee of $5.50. It had been free till last month. Great service. I’ve ordered different books with them and never had any complain.

  • It depends where you live. Some shopping centres have discount book stores which sell books very cheaply. Check your local library to find out whether they are likely to have a book sale soon. Maybe check on “Gumtree”. If she needs it at school fo they sell 2nd hand books at all? or maybe another student may have one they don’t want to keep after the end of the school year. Books can be very expensive so I can understand you looking for a cheap one. Maybe a shop in a centre such as at a Market set-up. I have found some books such as a Dictionary suitable for an 7 – 8 year old for school homework which was hard to find.
