Hello!

Does anyone still get their hair permed? Or has this gone out of style or will it become a retro style and make a comeback?

  • My mum still does, she turned 88 this year.
My daughter and also my son have naturally curly hair

  • I thought it was an 80s thing – I was fascinated to read the answers saying that some people still do. It’s just not occured to me for decades.

  • My hair is already curly no need for petms

  • Nothing wrong with perms if it suits you.

  • I haven’t had a perm since the 1990’s, but I enjoyed getting them back then.

  • I haven’t has a perm for decades! However in saying that the quality of perms are gentler these days and I would love to have a head full of girls. They used to be all the rage back in the 80’s but I always found them to dry my hair out. I may have another one one of these days who knows.

  • I did this once when I was out of high school and everyone told me I looked like my mother . I never did it again …

  • no it is not really a requested style too much anymore.

  • I would never perm my hair again,it ruins it.

  • I used to love doing a shaggy perm!
Think I’m over due for a pamper session so might see myself if I can get a home perm kit. Much prefer doing it at home.
So yes I hope it is coming back & I intend to get a shaggy perm.

  • I got my 1st perm at 15yo, then had a spiral perm or 2 & continued with perms for 15 years because I had the straightest hair & loved the extra body they gave me.
After my kids, my hair became so curly I never needed another perm. I now have the curliest hair that it often drys with ringlets!

I don’t even think they teach it any more, but if you do find someone to do one be prepared for the chemical smells!

  • MOM dbhall82 I have friends with curly hair and some love it! Your girl may too!

  • I know there used to be home perm kits – but not sure if they are still sold?

  • Mum gets a perm when she needs a volume in her hair.

  • I don’t know anyone that gets their hair permed anymore sorry in saying that my daughter has naturally curly hair and everyone tells me she will hate it and want it straightened when she gets older :(
