Hello!

I was wondering if any mum’s out there know if you can freeze gingerbread biscuits and if they defrost ok? I want to make a heap for christmas gifts and was wondering if I could get started now so I don’t spend the whole week before Christmas in the kitchen! Does gingerbread freeze?

  • Yes, it does. Just make sure you seal it up properly; if ice gets into the container, it’ll likely go soggy while being defrosted.

  • I would be more inclined to freeze the dough and bake at the last minute i think the biscuits would go soggy

  • I want to make a ginger bread house this year for Xmas. It’s good to know I can bake it ahead of time so it’s ready to go just before Xmas

  • Yes! Interesting reading the comments given to this as well!

  • just freeze the dough, works pretty well!

  • yes you can, either freeze the dough (keeps for 6 weeks) or freeze the biscuits when cool (3-4 weeks)

  • I love the thoughtful answers thanks everyone.

  • Freeze the dough and use as needed.

  • they will freeze fine
just make sure that your freezer, and any of the food in it , doesn’t stink or your baking will absorb it and smell

  • there are some good comments here

  • All biscuit dough will freeze. Butter based biscuits also freeze well as you can freeze butter.

  • i was wondering the same thing :)

  • I’ve never used gingerbread. Some helpful answers below.

  • My friend makes gingerbread biscuits every year and says that you can freeze both the dough and the baked biscuits. She prefers to freeze the biscuits so that they are ready to go.

  • Good luck with your gingerbread!
