Hello!

On the days where a bath was not practical, I would pop Baby in the shower. She used to cry and cry even when I wasn’t washing her hair. Apart from switching to a bath, what are some tips for making shower time a good experience?

  • Hate ! My nearly 8yr old still freaks from the shower

  • I stuck with baths until my daughter was eight, so I’m not sure what to advise for this question. Sorry.

  • Loves and hates. =)

Loves water and bubbles and toys around us. She cleans the glass while we are in there.

    Hates water in her eyes.

  • LOVE – my son was turning on his own showers at 1.5 yo – he just did it, then told me cold first mummy… Shocked my socks off! Nick is autistic, and a shower is the perfect calming space for him – warm water, lots of toys, and he is in there for a while. YEA, I am against it from a water wasting perspective, but have to pick my battles, so if this makes him restful, so be it. Good luck to you x

  • We have our shower over our bath.
I let my son hold the bath plug and he puts it in when I turn the shower on.
He absolutely loves doing it, he has more space so doesn’t have to have water in his face etc.
Plus bath toys make bath time so much better.

  • Our little one hated the shower until we got one Of those hose showers where you can take the shower head off and aim it. Then he loved it. Lol

  • Luckily my 4 month old loves the shower. We started him showering with dad as soon as he was home from hospital. My only suggestions are make sure the room is lovely and warm before you undress him and if possible adjust the shower head so the water stream isn’t too hard and fast on all that delicate skin :)

  • I sometimes find with working full time and not much time showers are more practical. My son also hates, them, however if I sing to him and smile and laugh, he calms down quicker. Also if I hold him tighter than usual he feels safer. My friend used a baby shower carrier, which worked well for her, but it was a little expensive.

  • Some don’t like the water running over their heads or in their ears. Baby could also be getting water in his eyes. I know one toddler who hates his head being touched at all and never has. We are allowed to give him a kiss, he is a cuddly toddler, but if you touch his head he will pull away and often rubs his head where we have touched him. He screams when his hair is cut. He has now been told he has a spunky hair cut. Don’t know if that is going to improve his ideas or not. He has only….just…started allowing us to put the hood of his hoodie on. Since then I tried a knitted beanie on him. I was told “no, Aunty wear it” I had to show him that it doesn’t fit me.

  • My son is 5 and still hates the shower.I tried to distract him with toys , didn’t work very well.He as a bath at home , but when we go camping I use to get a big plastic cup and fill it with water so he can have a wash too.
