Hello!

What’s peoples opinions on dying hair while pregnant? I heard both that’s it’s fine to do and also that it shouldn’t be done.

  • I didn’t need to, but even if I did, I probably would wait till after the birth just to be on the safe side.

  • I personally didn’t do it but was told by my OB that it was fine to do so if you wish.

  • Like anything – moderation is the key and it’s a personal choice – at the end of the day the dye isn’t on your head that long but anything on the skin could be absorbed into the blood stream and the baby. I’d suggest the risks are low as there hasn’t been any information to state otherwise

  • I have heard that the hormones can cause the colour to not turn out.
You’re only pregnant for 9 months, I’d wait & pamper yourself after bubs arrives.

  • Princess Kate didn’t use it when pregnant. If it’s good enough for Kate, it’s good enough for me :)

  • I would avoid the harsh colours and peroxides. I think getting it done at the hairdresser is better than DIY as they wash it in their special sink so you don’t have the colour running down your body in the shower etc. Also it might be one of the last opportunities for a while to be pampered at the hairdresser!!!

  • I thought it was fine, I do it myself

  • go au natural! lol why not, it’s only for a few months

  • try getting foils instead because the bleach won’t touch your skin

  • I think the issues with doing so while pregnant lies with bleach but I don’t think there is a problem with just colouring in general.

  • I never did, think not!!

  • I’m pretty sure it’s not reccomended, but maybe ask your doc? :)

  • I never did when pregnant because of chemicals but I have heard its safe to

  • don’t use a permanent or one with peroxide and it should be fine

  • I don’t think they recommend dying your hair while pregnant. Maybe don’t do it just to be safe!
