Hello!

How to ease restless leg syndrome? – I am in my 40’s & have started experiencing restless leg syndrome. I take magnesium supplements however, I was wondering if anybody has gone through this & what I can do to ease it.

  • Magnesium is fantastic. But i find the topical magnesium ( ie spray or rub) the best as you actually get more magnesium to the area, orally you lose a lot due to stomach acids breaking it down ) I spray 6 sprays in the morning to keep levels up then 4 sprays at night behind my knees … if i wake through the night with restless legs i’ll spray the backs of my legs again. Works a treat

  • I have read of a cake of soap under your bottom sheet. Not ordinary soap tho, it needs sonething in it that I can’t remember

  • I haven’t scrolled through all the answers to see if someone has already posted about putting a cake of soap

  • Is this when a leg suddenly jerks for no apparent reason?? It isn’t cramp which I get on rare occasions.

  • I would actually see your GP. Whilst magnesium can help with cramps etc, there are a variety of different treatments available for restless leg syndrome.

  • Thanks for asking, I get this all the time when I go to bed. Drives me crazy. I never thought to ask the Dr as I always have more urgent things to ask him about but after reading some of these comments I will definently make a note to ask him next time I go in. :)

  • My son gets this quite often. We get him to stretch before bed, drink plenty of water during the day, but also he has a small glass before bed and he has magnesium. If it flares up which is less since we’ve started the above. We heat pack straight away along with nuerofen

  • Can’t say I hv experienced it. So can’t help sorry

  • This is a major problem for diabetics so I was hoping for some answers for a family member. We have tried all the suggestions below, he takes the vitamin supplements, stockings, pain killers, leg rubs etc. Nothing seems to work for long. So if someone can help, that would be wonderful.

  • Some good advice there below.
