Hi, I was wondering whether anyone could recommend me a naturopath (in Adelaide) who deals with eczema in babies. Does anyone have anything that has worked for them? I have tried moogoo, steroid cream, papaw, antibacterial creams, copious moisterising etc all of which haven’t really helped. And has anyone found out the root cause that have caused baby eczema? Thanks.

  • Didn’t read all the comments so you may have been told this already. If you’re breastfeeding it could be something you are eating on a regular basis, if you are formula feeding try swapping to soy or lactose free, ie: something non dairy based. I suffered from eczema until I was 16, at that point a naturopath diagnosed me as dairy intolerant, so I ceased eating all dairy, it took a while for the toxins to leave my body but once they did, I very rarely had eczema and when I did it was because I had been naughty. Hope this helps.

  • Short, luke warm baths. I’m using cetaphil intensive moisturizing cream for hands feet and elbows. It’s thick and made from Shea butter. My sons skin is near on perfect now. I also went gluten and dairy free for about 6 weeks and have slowly introduced things again with no skin problems. Only dairy he had is his formula.

  • skyezone.net has a balm for irritated skin.
Really cheap, all natural made from herbs. Works wonders.

  • Elidel cream is amazing, cleared it up completely, at the same time and still do use QV oil, wash and cream everyday. Some foods caused my babies ezema, I just feed her fresh fruit and vegetables, and have no more problems.

  • Oatmeal bath helps too if it is red raw eczema !!

  • amber teething beads has helped with my eczema and i use to have it bad …. i don’t take hot showers or baths – i make sure it is warm so it does not irritate my skin plus a cream called “Caroline’s cream” has helped it !!

  • Thanks Lyn, I took him for a swim at the beach tonight so we’ll see if anything has improved in the morning :)

  • Goats milk, goats soap, qv bath, sorborlene and strong steroid cream. Very strict about its use and application. Along with cornstarch powder after a bath, soaks up wetness doesn’t cause dryness.

  • Dr Tao is fantastic and lovely with kids. He will help you enormously. I found sorbolene cream the most helpful. Priceline brand is a really good one. Good luck.

  • We took a houseboat holiday for 10 days and my daughter’s eczema disappeared. Arriving back at home within 3 days the eczema had returned. We truly believe that swimming daily in the ocean fixed it. I now add salt to her baths and this seems to clear it up. Medically the salt restores mineral balance to the skin and gives relief from the itch.

  • try noni oil or aloivera realy works..

  • ALOE VERA GEL FROM a plant

  • I should also mention for those who asked, my son is 9 months old and has had eczema since he was 2 months old which has lead me to believe that perhaps the cause is something I’m eating which is coming out of my breastmilk (he is still breast fed) as it started before he was on solids. The main things he eats now is yoghurt, bananas and avocado. I will definitely be cutting out all dairy in both our diets as well as trying the amber hazel wood necklaces. We have an appointment with Dr Tao, a skin and allergy specialist in December so hopefully that will shed some light on the problem. His main areas he is getting eczema is around his neck, shoulders and arm and leg joints. I will try a lot of the things you have all suggested and let you know how we go. Thank you all again.

  • Thank you so much to everyone who has commented on this post!!! I’m completely blown away by everyone who has taken the time and offered their support. It’s so nice to know that there are other people going through what I’m going through with my son.

  • LOC $15 for a big bottle from amway u only need a tiny bit so it lasts forever. It is sold as a natural all purpose cleaner however it is so gentle it can be used for pretty much anything including shampoo n shower gel. My mum used it for my brother for his eczema all through his childhood (i think he still does use it). My almost 1yo neice has it used on her her eczema is so bad she wakes up in blood patches so i suggested it to her mum n it cleared it up within a day or 2. Her only problem is that her daughter doesnt know to not scratch and she actually scratches her face when shes upset but it really helps her. My whole family use it now my son n i have sensitive skin especially with me being pregnant it stops the itching n my partner uses it for his acne. It clears it up really fast especially on his back.
