Hello!

my eight month old baby girl has just started crawling in the last week but is still not sitting, I try and get get to sit every day but she isn’t interested and wants to be on the ground. She can’t sit unsupported and just flops over. Tried the bumbo seat and just cries and arches her back until I get her out. I have an apt in two weeks with the health nurse but just wondering if this has happened to you or if you have any advice?

  • I would ask questions at your next appointment, there might be issues, but most likely not. My daughter by passed crawling all together, straight to walking. They all do things in different ways, in their own time

  • I wouldn’t worry too much, kids all develop in a different pace. You could do some exercises to help her encouraging sitting. For example sit her in a washing basket supported with pillows. A physiotherapist could give you good advice

  • I would see if there are any issues with her sitting, otherwise if all is okay, don’t worry children reach different milestones in their own time.

  • yeah when they start crawling, they get into everything! won’t be long now lol

  • Oh that’s good to know I guess all babies do everything when they want

  • My little one sat at around 10 months with some little help and didn’t start to crawl until 12 months. They are all so different. Does she like to sit on your lap?
