Hello!

My 16 mth old daughter hates when I clean her teeth after the meal. Even though we show her when we brush our teeth, and she looks interested wants to try. How to encourage her to clean her teeth without crying? Thank you in advance.

  • I found an electric kids toothbrush in Coles, that has minions on it. My son is a big Minions fan, and likes to watch us brush our teeth. We started using the electric toothbrush with some Jack and Jill brand flavoured toothpaste, and it’s become less of a challenge. He’s 2, so some days it doesn’t matter what we do, he just won’t comply. On the days he’s in a good mood, this is working for us. Good luck!

  • I spent countless nights in desperation over this. We kept at it, we used stickers, praise, brushing teeth songs from the internet (try Elmo) and eventually, we got there. I think it was getting older and understanding that nailed it.

  • As i said, usually a healthy reward does help!

  • Rewards!

  • Let her do it herself she will have more fun.

  • Just try to be persistent :)

  • make it a game, and do it together get her to help you brush yours, and a mirror works wonders when they can see themselves brushing

  • buy the toothpaste for milk teeth, they like the taste and it doesn’t burn

  • i give mine one they can play with and i found that got them use to it

  • Attractive tooth brush helps a lot.my friends kid is a fan of spider man. he was also lazy to brush.he started to brush when they bought spiderman toothbrush for him.he has tooth brush with other characters also.buy toothbrush with different characters which is available in supermarkets and let her select the one she likes for the day. Also show the pictures of bad teeth online and tell her about it.it might work.

  • I would take her to a dentist. Brushing straight after a meal can lead to acid damage, it’s better to wait at least 30 minutes after eating.

  • let her choose her own tooth brush. we have about 5 different toothbrushes for my son. one in each bathroom and the rest he sits next to his bed. he brushes his teeth al lthe time. make a game out of it, make it a fun time not a boring time

  • Ive heard of musical toothbrush’s but I’m not sure the age range

  • She is only young, but I would start letting her have a go as well that way it may make it fun.

  • Macleans Nurdle Wurdle App! Every time she brushes her teeth she can dress the Nurdle up and it has a little song she can dance too. My daughter loved it
