Hello!

So it’s one of my favourite times of the year when we get to see the magnificent spectacle of the whale migration. I have been lucky enough to receive the birthday gift from the hubby of a whale watching voucher (going out on a boat) for a couple of years now. Though I have to say finances are tight this year so I wouldn’t expect one, we have seen them from afar when walking through different areas of the National Parks and the coastline. But I was wondering if any of you have some favourite spots that you like to catch sight of the whales?

  • Port Macquarie is good, as is Crowdy head and Harrington area.

  • Sorry, this is the image I tried uploading yesterday :)

  • Royal National Park Otford or down at Point Perpendicular on the South Coast.

  • Forgot to say I did spot this tv personality when out on one of the whale watching tours, him as his ride had a really close encounter with the whale!

  • @ ASHBLONDE Thanks for that, we have been there but they were a lot further out than at the time we visited :) We will go again as regardless it’s still fantastic to watch something so big in motion!

  • that sounds like great fun! i know places elsewhere but not nsw

  • Cape Solander at Kurnell is a great place to see the migration & on several occasions they have come in close to show off their family!

  • Thanks, girls! It was fantastic!! We went once to a whale cruise in Sydney and the experience wasn’t as special as that one in Bondi. And we weren’t absolutely looking for whales, just geocaching! :-)

  • MOM90758, that sounds amazing!

To the poster, I can’t help with places in nsw, but in Victoria if you go to Sorrento and catch the fairy, you see dolphins and whales etc. It’s beautiful :)

  • @MOM90758 That sounds like an amazing/wonderful experience to have had, let along the fact that it was on your Birthday! Can only dream and wish for a similar experience.

  • I remember that on my birthday (November) I was walking in Bondi, close to the Golf Club, and suddenly one whale with her baby started jumping in front of me. It was really very close. It was amazing, unexpected and the best gift ever! :-)
