Hello!

As a full-time mum, I have been EBF for almost 5 months, and my son has been suffering from reflux. I am thinking of switching to formula as nothing seems to be working, but I have no idea where to start.  I need some formula recommendations for reflux babies. I find the varieties a bit overwhelming! What is the difference between gold, follow on formula etc? What type of formula would you recommend?

  • I am giving my dd Karicare Aptamil AR. It is very good however she is constipated. Maybe her body is still getting use to the new formula?
Hope you will choose a good one. Good luck!

  • My first daughter suffered reflux for the first few months of birth and it got to a stage where I was burping her over the sink as they just vomited out like a fountain and I said this is getting ridiculous. She even vomited a bit even when I put her to sleep . One night I was watching her and I though she was lying too flat in her bassinet and I had a mini pillow to cause her to sleep like a small slant . So I put the pillow first then put the bassett base over it so the pillow won’t cover her . Before I knew it her reflux was reduced and then slowly I didn’t have to worry about burping her over the sink. Maybe try this method because it sure worked for me and then I did the same thing when my son was born . Good luck

  • I recommend Nan Pro Gold. I’ve used others but found bubs getting constipated so I use Nan abd it’s great. I did switch from 1 to 2 in the same formula but Bub was getting constipated abd maternal child health nurse said to go back to number 1 and that I could use it until Bub reaches 12mnths.

  • Go to the chemist and ask them what they all mean. there are formulas that are extra thick to help with the reflux.

  • My daughter had this problem with her son so she got a special formula and then was told to add and extra scoop which thickens it

  • COntinue BF and then try A2 formula?

  • You should try and persist with the breast, maybe try feeding him in different position or even examine your own diet.

  • Did you find one that worked well?

  • how did you go? :)

  • What formula did you end up using?

  • We used Ballamys and mixed feed

  • Aldi is a good brand

  • Which formula did you end up using?

  • I would also speak to your child health nurse.

  • Also might be worth just asking a pharmacy assistant for advice.
