Getting pelvic floor muscles back – Hi want to ask all the mums out there how long it took them to get pelvic floor muscle back or are they still scared to sneeze? What are the tricks? Thanks

  • Mine weren’t bad after baby number two but then I ended up getting a UTI and now it’s worse than when I was pregnant! Arghhh…


  • My youngest is 27 this year and I don’t think my pelvic floor muscles have ever recovered! Pelvic floor exercises are good, although tricky to know if you’re doing them right. There is a TENS device you can buy, I’ve heard that’s good


  • Keep doing pelvic exercises. If it doesn’t get better over time, please see a doctor.


  • Doing pelvic floor exercises helps, depending on how bad your leakage is. You might need medical intervention


  • Go and see a women’s health physio. You need to exercise your pelvic floor daily after children! But you need to ensure you are doing it correctly


  • Work, work, work those muscles!! Do your pelvic floor exercises everyday a few times a day! Just make sure your doing them correctly! xo


  • I think once you give birth , your pelvic muscles is never going to be the same as before . Instead of being scared to sneeze , I would buy some Tena or Poise liners and keep doing those exercises . The scary part is it will weaken again as we age … !


  • BRIDGWLL ive got a 7 yo n did exactly what you said n its just as good as before pregnant lol, definately a one to try.


  • Pilates exercises also help with pelvic floor muscles. As a fitness instructor I had strong pelvic floor muscles before having children but it seems that getting them back is be an individual thing (based on my friends)


  • Talk to your gp if it doesn’t improve


  • Throughout the day squeeze. when your driving squeeze. when your sitting watching tv squeeze. Also when you go to the toilet stop mid flow and this will help.


  • Wherever you are, there’s very few times that you can’t practice your pelvic floor exercises, no matter who’s around you. Sitting in the car, on the bus, watching t.v., standing at the stove preparing dinner, walking the dog, so many ways. It takes a bit of practice, but it’s a bit like trying to have better posture, you just keep practicing and it becomes second-nature. A couple of months of constant exercises and you’ll be fine.
