Hello!

Are they too impersonal, indicate a lack of thought or are they ok?

  • I think they are fine, especially once they are teenagers or above. At least then you know that they will get something you like.

  • It depends on who the recipient is. Some people really really love these. And to be honest, sometimes you don’t have much choice, if you don’t know the person well but feel obliged to give them something.

  • Consider a personalised eftpos or pre-paid card. These can be used in any store that accepts cards and you can add a message on the card itself. Worse thing is receiving a gift voucher for a store you never visit or need to go out of your way to visit.
A better option is giving cash and “wrapping” it in a creative way (e.g., roll $5 notes together to make it look like a flower and stick it on a stem). That makes it both personal and flexible.

  • For the first time I gave gift cards to my family so they can buy their own thing. They really appreciated it that I made it flexible to them .

  • they are great for sure! it lets you get exactly what you want to get! very useful!

  • I love to receive them . The only thing you have to wary of is that you use them before they expire. It is amazing how the months slip way. I had 2 Gold Class theatre tickets given to me. When I went to use them they had expired by over a month. I rang them and said to them that we had been unable to use them because of a series of illness and family issues and they extended them for another 3 months. I thought that was a lovely thing to do. Needless to say we used them as soon as possible and thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

  • I think they are wonderful to give, saves people complaining or having to return unwanted/needed gifts.

  • I believe they are fine,as long as the recipient is over the age of 15.Below that age, kids like unwrapping presents, the thrill of the suprise. After 15 ,its all about them, the me me me ages. They like to feel grown up and in controll of what they can buy for themselves,so I think they are fine for teenagers. As for everybody else, yes they are fine, unless its your wife, then no,get off your lazy butt and pick a thoughtful, non house related gift.

  • It depends on the person, if it personalised to their choice then great, like an experience but it gets a bit predictable if they get the same thing every time. My family know I like theatre so they get me a gift voucher for that and I love it because I have no problem using it to see a play or even buy a subscription.

  • Yes they are sometimes the best choice as some people are hard to buy for then the problem is if they do not use it the retailer ends up with free money. Great for long distance gifts, I have always like a present as no price can be added to it, as a voucher can. It is personal likes and dislikes. My mum always say if we have to give them a gift then give a Bunning voucher, after a while this is not the same.

  • I do like vouchers and I use them – fun to shop with them too!

  • As long as the voucher is appropriate for the person and caters for their interests.

  • Gift Vouchers are fantastic, they can buy what they want and normally l get the voucher where they love to shop!

  • Definitely ok.

  • I don’t mind them at all!
