Hello!

I’m six months out from having bub and I am still losing a substantial amount of hair, mostly when I wash it. I am eating loads of protein and taking my vitamins to help. How long did it take for your hair to stop freaking out?

  • I am right there with you and hate it@!

  • Yes it does stop. Then you get this awesome second layer of regrowth. But they do say it takes 9 months to grow a baby, 9 moths to get over it. You learn to rock your new mum look…lol

  • I think mine stopped around 6 months but now I have this horrible wispy new growth. I am still breastfeeding so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

  • I had thick hair in pregnancy and then it fell out when bub was 4 mths old – back to my thin lifeless hair :( 2nd pregnancy – hair didn’t thicken up or fall out. Hormones do funny things to us!

  • With my first baby I lost heaps of hair. I actually had a balding spot! Turns out I was very low in iron. Get your iron levels checked. After I had bub everything went back to normal. With my second child the opposite happened and my hair was the thickest it had ever been!

  • 6 months exactly – it was actually the day he turned 6 months when i had a shower and found i wasn’t losing as much hair, by the next day it was only a couple of strands. It will stop :) Feels like forever though! lol

  • zinc and magnesium will help!

  • I didn’t have this problem but my niece did, and she started taking magnesium supplements and it stopped with 2 weeks. If you’re hesitant about supplements, check with your doctor first.

  • My hair to about 6mths from when I finished breastfeeding to come back to normal.

  • Take some magnesium tablets and this will help stop the hair loss and help regrowth.

  • Pre or post bub??
I found it started falling out at 3 months post bub and only started to settle at about 6-7 months. By 10 months it was back to normal. But it varies from woman to woman. I’ve read before that unless it’s falling out in chunks, all is ok.

  • My hair took a good 12mths to stop falling out & then it was quite thin for another 6mths until all the new growth grew longer

  • I didn’t have this problem, but friends found it took about 12 months.
