I have some basic ideas and plans – would love something that really pops food wise! I would be happy to hear about any recipes, ideas for things that I could possibly make.

  • I made a rainbow smash cake for a first birthday. Really easy, different coloured cakes stacked together with cream or ganache. Ice or cover with more ganache and enjoy

  • I agree that the answers are really helpful.

  • There are some great ideas here.

Rainbow balloons and streamers. All good.

  • some great ideas here. thank you

  • Love the simple rainbow cake recipe! Think I will give it ago!
    Thanks!

  • Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I basically did a fair combination of the suggestions posted here.
Round cake cut in half, iced with smarties inserted on the front side as the rainbow. Cupcakes with blue frosting then the sours bent on-top as the rainbow also baked rainbow coloured cake pops with pink icing and a multitude of sprinkles- the rest of the party was then decked out (but tied in with the rainbows) to the party girls colour preference. Which went along the lines of “long as there is pink and lots and lots of sparkles” lol – so that was a large combination of pink table runners, with different tones of pink baubles in vases, pink patterned stuffed owls (owls were on the invites sent out) metallic pink wire balls, sparkling owls, glass owl tea-light holders, pink and clear crystals….definitely an overload of pink but the birthday girl loved it and the whole event went smoothly and happily!

  • Check out pinterest. It has some amazing ideas for a rainbow party. Good Luck

  • I did one last year it was a rainbow unicorn theme. I did a lolly bar with all different coloured lollies in jars, I got rainbow striped plates, cups, hats party whistles, I also got different coloured balloons and placed them around the party. Food wise, I did many different coloured food.

  • Food wise as someone else posted rainbow cakes are easy, vanilla cake mix seperated and placed in different bowls, mix different colours through. Bake put cream in between then ice with white and use those rainbow sour straps to make a rainbow. Otherwise a normal cake, cut into rainbow shape and ice, then use different coloured sugars to make it a rainbow. For the other food rainbow shaped biscuits (there are some easy recipes with only three ingredients). I would also do rainbow fruit kebabs using strawberries, orange or mandarin, banana, kiwi fruit, blueberries. Fairy bread is a winner and fits the theme. Maybe also clear cups with lemonade coloured different colours with food colouring.
