Has anyone been on a cruise? Would love to know what its like because I would love to take my family on one, some time in the future. Can they be kid friendly?

  • Only been on one without kids but sure they’re fine with

  • I’ve not been on a cruise myself, but 2 of my friends go all the time. They say it’s the best and super kid friendly !

  • My husband, daughter and I went on a five day cruise from Sydney to Melbourne in January this year. We loved it, especially because we got to spend two days in Melbourne, so there was a mix of cruising and time off the ship. There were plenty of activities for children of all ages and lots to do for the adults. We will definitely take another cruise in the future.

  • Some Cruise companies don’t supply free liquour as they find some of their passengers over indulge and their behaviour spoils the social atmosphere. Some will not allow youto take liquor on board when you initially board the ship. It is in the terms and conditions and state that it will be confiscated. If you buy bottles of liquor during day trips they will stroe it for you and give it back to you just before the end of your cruise.

  • Yes I think they are very kids friendly. My sister went with her 4 kids and they loved it. Something to do for all the kids, kids club, different break out areas for different age groups. They all loved it. She had to insist they come back to do family things throughout the day otherwise they would’ve been off with friends and activities all day long.

  • a friend was telling me that there was some deal on and her relo took their kid. so for an adult and kid it was $1000. free alcohol, and 7 days trip :)

  • No, but I have family and friends who have been and every single one of them loved it. The only advice is if you have never been on one , start off with a mini cruise, perhaps a 3-5 day one . A friend of mine went on a 7 day one , got sick on the 3rd day ( due to rocky waters ) and was still sick for many days after she came home . She said she made a mistake of going on a long one . I will bring Ginger tablets if I ever go as I get travel sickness on rocky journeys .

  • Might think about doing it in the next couple of years :)

  • You would need to shop around. Some cruises have things for all ages. Some are aimed at older people. Others are more kid friendly. You would have to find out the best ones for kids

  • No but lately talking to people who booked cruises and l wouldn’t mind taking one from what l’ve heard and how good they are!

  • yes yes fantastic it is true, lots of activities for kids too. I have been a passenger when my kids were young and we all had great fun. Also work away in childcare too loved the kids and time spent traveling dining and being looked after too. Loved the kids some wanted to take me home so it says a lot felt at home.Have a wonderful time

  • Maybe look at communities online – there are plenty of groups for taking a cruise.

  • My neighbours love cruising, and other friends went on one and hated it. Remember you will be obliged to stay at your rostered table, so you’d have to hope you didn’t have people whose opinions are diametrically opposed to yours like my friends had.
I don’t really like being confined on a boat and you really don’t see much at the ports you call in to. Prefer going to the country and touring it on my own myself.

  • I wish!!!!!!!! ;)

  • Maybe check out family cruises – there are special cruises for different groups.
