Hello!

I’ve had good experiences with washing dry clean only school skirts at home (cold wash, gentle cycle) however, for some reason I’m more worried about DIY washing a blazer. It is 45% wool and 55% polyester so it should be fine according to the guidelines so long as I don’t use any heat, or drier etc. (because wool is more likely to shrink) yet (the kids keep bugging me that I’ll ruin it) and confidence has gone! Has anyone else done a blazer at home? and what were the results?

  • Yes, a gentle wash program should work. Keep the program short, temperature low and spinning low. Alternatively you could hand wash it in lukewarm water, don’t let it soak, use a wool wash wash-liquid. Squeeze the water out, don’t wring

  • I’ve tried washing a couple of dry clean only items and most have worked out. The only thing I ruined was a silk tie.

  • Gawd no, no way would I attempt a diy clean like this. I wouldn’t even buy an expensive garment that recommended dry cleaning only

  • I would only try it on a garment that you can afford to replace if washing it goes wrong.

  • I have, and ruined the outfit, but if you sponge the blazer, with wool mix and water lightly you can get most marks out

  • Gentle wash has worked in this household.

  • Yep I do it all the time with hubbies suit ????

  • My son wears a blazer and frankly wouldn’t even consider trying it especially if it is good quality and plus the cost of paying for that . Maybe search around as the dry clean we have had done costs around $10-12 which will last a ling time as long as he is careful . It is mainly for winter anyway so you can clean it before it gets cold then it will be clean for next winter .

  • No l have never washed dry clean only,l don’t think it would work!

  • Yep! I wash my work ones all the time. With a 7 month old it has to get washed weekly as i end up with stains on my shoulders! i use a gentle warm (not hot) wash and hang it straight out. And not had a problem *** i take no responsibility for shrinking clothes*** haha
