  • the prado has 8 seats where as most others only have 7.

  • We only have one so I can’t tell you what it’s like with a big family, but I like the prado. It’s sturdy. The boot isn’t great with extra seats up but you can put only one up in the back and still have some boot.

  • They have lots of room but are very expensive to run. I like the idea that anothr mum suggested about putting the carseats and pram and anything else you would normally take in the car with you like school bags and see if you are happy with it :)

  • I was told they are pretty expensive to run. I’d probably do some more research my dear

  • We considered it, but because we were also after the towing power, we bought a 7 seater Nissan Patrol instead. We also own an older Toyota Landcruiser, which seats 6. Both cars are diesel and we’ve had no problems with them. We have four kids too, so we can either fold up the extra seat in the Patrol for extra room in the boot or have a friend with us. My Mother in Law and Brother in Law both have Prados and seem mostly happy with them. One difference, they have the seats but not the same towing capacity. I think a better ride in the Patrol too. If I was to replace a vehicle, I think I’d go Nissan Patrol again.

  • We have a Toyota Prado, Love it!
We have 4 children and you can fit everything in, including the pram and still have room. Its a little bit smaller than a Toyota Landcruiser but a lot cheaper too. My Mum and Dad and 2 brother’s own a Toyota Landcruiser and my sister and myself own a Toyota Prado.
We grew up with Toyota’s, they are awesome and hold their value, in my case I recommend them!!!!!

  • My sister in law owned one for years until a few weeks ago it was deemed a total loss when someone smashed into her . Lucky no one was hurt. It is an extremely LARGE 4WD which I think looks like the King of 4WD and personally thinks it is way too big unless you intend to do a lot of hard driving . Be aware it does use a lot of petrol and complained one time it costs her $80 to fill the tank and that was a few years ago .

  • We are about to buy the new Prato sport for our family. My suggestion is put the car seats in, add the pram to the boot, etc and see how much room you have and need. We did and the salesman was only too happy to let us go for it.
