Hello!

Has anyone has their child tested for a milk allergy and it came out negative but when they eat it they get gassy and cry more?

  • You can still be intolerant without an allergy. You are describing classic intolerance symptoms.

  • Is it every time or after they’ve had a lot of dairy products? Might be worthwhile talking to a dietitian as they may have some good ideas/strategies on what to substitute or what could be causing it.

  • People who know me think I am strange. From a baby I have always had problems digesting milk as in drinking it or having it with cereal. Yet I don’t have a problem with custard I make with ordinary milk or yoghurt I buy. I also don’t have a problem with icecream. When my Grandma used to make her own icecream she used canned evaporated milk, sugar and enough boiling water (I think it was approx. a tablespoon) to dissolve the gelatin. Not the “things” that are in bought icecream – you don’t want to know.

  • I have heard the A2 milk is good for kids like this. Not actually intolerant fully, but just a bit upset drinking normal milk. Could be worth a try. If no difference, you might have to switch to soy or almond etc

  • no but if you notice the pattern, maybe it is borderline intolerant. just keep the milk in-take to the daily recommendations or have products that have fortified calcium like breads etc.
