Hello!

The pram I currently use for bubs is too bulky to take on holidays to Thailand. I was thinking of one of those $20 cheapy ones for overseas but they look very uncomfortable. What do people reccomend?

  • I always brought a cheaper lightweight one lately. Even 2 years ago I brought a buggy for my then nearly 5yr old ! I remember I took once the Phil & Teds double buggy and we didn’t experience problems on the plane

  • It depends a bit on how long your holiday will be. I would seriously consider the cheapie pram if it’s only a week or two.

  • I would try something lightweight, good luck.

  • I was wondering the same thing. Not for a baby though. We’ll have our 3.5 yo old with us, and 7 & 9yo. A pram/stroller would be good to hold all our drink bottles etc while on day trips and if little one’s legs get tired he can sit in the stroller or even maybe nap.

  • Maybe take a cheap one and line it with something comfortable.

  • Such an interesting travel question.

  • We have travelled to Asia several times with each of our babies. I always used to $20 cheapo ones! But make sure you bring your sunshade and rain cover too. You can buy a stroller net to hang on the back to store bub’s things in. Make sure when you check in at the airport you tell the staff you want to hold onto the stroller, then you can use it right up to boarding time. Then you hand in the stollen and it is premium hand
Luggage, it will then be given to you when you get off the plane too. Very handy! The best thing about these cheap strollers…they fold up small! Perfect for taxis, buses and trains and even to store under your seat at a restaurant. they are also easy to push around and navigate through crowded streets etc. and….if your stroller gets grubby, they are so easy to wipe clean, no thick padding to scrub while you are away…and because it is cheap, you can always chuck it out!
Enjoy your travels! You will find the Thai people so beautiful, so caring and gentle towards you and your child. Make sure you book the bassinet seat for your airplane and book a child meal too! (This has to be phoned through to the airline!)

  • I know a lady who travelled overseas with a baby and took a stroller which when folded fitted in its own carry bag. I don’t know what brand it is or how much it was but she is still using it 2 years later. It has average size wheels so folds up smaller than some do. It is easy to fold but very safe. Nowhere where fingers big or small can get stuck.

  • Thanks was the carrier even better than a pram for a big 11 month old bub?

  • There are some nice light travel stroller available if you want something better than the 20 buck ones. Personally I recommend a baby carrier though – that’s what we’ve used when travelling overseas and find it much easier than a stroller. Have a good trip!

  • If bub can sit in a stroller, then the $20 ones are great for holidays!

  • It really depends….work out how much you would be spending…it might work out that you could be better off buying one here and taking it with you. Even if you decide to leave it at the airport on your way home or gift it to a local who you think could use it.
I think I would rather have a new one…depending on the age of the bub…they suck on parts of the pram, throw up, have poo explosions, etc…I would worry about how clean the rental pram would be.

  • Depends on the size of bubs, but you could just take a sling or carrier, or otherwise ask your hotel if they hire them. Also you could buy a cheap on there and then donate it to a charity when you leave.

  • Google some areas you may be shopping at and see what they have price range for prams, if they don’t have much then get the cheapest pram you feel is comfortable and worst comes to worst just leave it there if it didn’t cost too much.

  • I think if it were me I would just get a cheap one from target or big w just in case you can’t hire one when your away
