Hello!

Just wondering if the Shillings method increased your chances of conceiving a certain sex? My partner and I have 2 daughters and are about to start trying for another. We will be ecstatic with either gender but would like to have a go at conceiving a boy.

  • A friend of mine says it works, they had two girls and were wanting a boy and did have one. I personally think it is luck of the draw though

  • Ice never heard of the shillings method. I know there are different foods they recommend you eat for a boy or a girl. Maybe you could try these?

  • What is this method? I googled it but it didn’t come up with anything relevant to conception. I don’t believe this sort of thing but wondering what the theory is behind it?

  • no it really is random! it just comes down to chance

  • No… I’m not sure any of these methods are backed by scientific evidence, but then again most of them aren’t harmful either, so why not have a go?

  • do people actually believe that having sex at certain times and certain days or eating certain foods will give them a certain sex.
Its a 50 – 50 chance of having either sex and it is actually the mans sperm that makes it either a boy or girl.

  • We used the shillings method for conceiving our son :D I tracked for 6 months before hand to make sure that I had the method down pat and we conceived our son straight away.

  • They say that if you want a girl then it’s more likely if it is conceived at the end of your ovulation, whereas with a boy at the start of your ovulation is better. I do know that some men it seems just don’t produce boys. this is not a fact but interesting, I know of 5 different families that the men all work in the same field and they have heaps of girls and keep trying but can not get that boy. My hubby was also in the same profession and although we have only one child, it’s a girl. But good luck, any baby is wonderful, but I know what you mean.
