Hello!

Hi. My son is 2.5 years old and recently started scratching the lower half of his body (legs and bum mainly) until it leaves massive scratch marks and bleeds. I had eczema as a kid, although mainly in winter, and I was just wondering if anyone has any tips to soothe the itch and remove the sores. Thank you :)

  • When it’s eczema indeed I would go to the GP and get a referral for the dermatologist if needed

  • Speak with a dermatologist.
They will be able to assess yours sons skin & provide you with a suitable cream.

  • Have you tried goats milk soap or goats milk body wash and lotion. Apparently it works wonders!

  • My brother has really bad eczema, he used PINETARSOL, cheap and really effective!

  • demaid and a thick moisturiser like dermeze

  • keep it moisurised. avoid soap products,

  • your doctor should be able to provide you with something stronger if need be. Goats milk soap and creams are supposed to be calming for irritated skin.

  • If over the counter remedies like Pinetarsol in the bath, oatmeal baths, QV creams are not working it may be time to get some GP help. Our 2 yr old had severe infantile eczema and still uses Advantan fatty ointment to control outbreaks. Good luck I hope you find something that works,

  • there are some very good creams on the market these days that are steroid free also

  • some used chamomile tea bags to apply and oat bath

  • Make sure his skin is really well moisturized. There are also other non medicated creams you can get to ease the itch when he wants to scratch.

  • there are some good comments here

  • Hope this has been resolved for you.
