Hello!

I had my baby in September. I had intercourse Oct 3rd & got my period Oct 9th-19th. Then I got another period Nov 9th-14th. I’m currently waiting for my dec period but it says I’m 4 days late. I’ve also taken MANY pregnancy tests and all say negative. Why is it late though??

  • Hormones and/or stress could be throwing your cycle out.

  • Your hormones could be returning back to normal or you could be pregnant

  • Don’t worry to much these things happen after having a baby, lack of sleep change of lifestyle can throw a woman’s body off, check with your GP or OB to make sure there isn’t anything serious. i had a similar thing when i have my first child and even after my period was all over the place, don’t stress to much i’m sure it will work itself out. good luck take care

  • It could be numerous of things, you body is still getting use to giving birth to a baby, it took me several months for my period to get back to normal. One pregnancy, my period was all over the place. And Drs couldn’t work out what was wrong. You could be stressed, too much or less exercises, the list is endless.

  • I don’t think it’s anything to worry about as yet. Women’s menstral cycles often go out of sync for a variety of reasons. Stress, tiredness…….having a baby !!

  • Your body has gone through many changes with childbirth, it may be still re adjusting.

  • Normal, could also be different if breastfeeding. Body’s slowly getting itself back together.

  • I think stress can play a part in any of your bodily functions so if you are very anxious at the current moment your cycles, moods etc can be irregular. Maybe after new year go to a trusty GP , to get a full checkup first to relive your worries , then go back a month later if nothing has changes. That way you are not endlessly worrying , esp now that new year is coming up. All the best :)

  • It’s pretty normal to have an irregular period after having kids. It’s taken years for me to become more regular. Sometimes I even miss a month. However if you are concerned see a doctor but 4 days isn’t a lot. I wouldn’t worry too much.

  • Possibly it’s just getting itself back into sync and it’s on it’s way. Or else you’re pregnant and the tests are wrong however this would be unlikely as tests are normally pretty good these days.

  • Your cycle takes a little while to settle after a baby and breast feeding is not suggested to be a good contraception. You may find your cycle is not back in routine as you only had a baby in September. The pediatricians and midwives suggest no intercourse for 6 weeks after birth to help let your body regulate and settle. perhaps a visit to your local GP may help if you are really worried they have the ability to do a blood test which is highly accurate. I hope this helps and hope all is well!

  • Breastfeeding affects the length of the period

  • Are you breastfeeding? Breastfeeding makes your periods irregular and you are so fertile!

I got my period back after 8 months post partum.

  • It’s normal to be irregular, certainly after being pregnant, delivering a baby, and I don’t know if you breastfeed ? there just happens a lot in your body on hormonal level.

  • So many reasons – stress, illness, your body still getting sorted after having a baby…
