Hello!

My baby cousin has just moved out of home for the first time. Her mum (my aunty) died of cancer 2 years ago and she doesn’t have that person to give her all the advice. So I want to make her a ‘mum’s guide to living on your own’ book for Christmas.

Do you have any Home Hint book ideas

I would love any daily survival tips that any of the MOMs have to pass on.

  • I love this idea :)
My tip would be to make a budget including putting money aside to follow your dreams.

  • A beautiful, kind and caring idea. Love it.

  • Freeze leftovers for lunches at work etc
    Clean as you go
put money away for bills as every quarter finding a weeks wage for bills is tough

  • They are all over the internet if you google them. What a wonderful idea too! You could even separate it into different topics

  • i think that you are a lovely person and she is so lucky that you are looking out for her!
ok tell her that if you see something on the floor that looks like chocolate, but could also be poo, play it safe and treat it as if it were poo and bin it- don’t sniff it lol

  • Think about some of the things you ask your mum and you might have a great place to start. I also like the Stay at Home Mum site for tips, certainly a link to this said so many great recipes, tips and you can ask questions.
Favourite family recipes would also be good.
One tip is that Vinegar has so many uses other than for cooking. Cleaning with vinegar is amazing but masses of tips that you could google.

  • There are so many things! I found a great site called Stay At Home Mum and it has some many tips for cleaning, cooking, budgeting …everything!
One thing to remember is that you do not need to buy the most expensive items when it comes to the home for cleaning or washing! It all does the same thing! Live to your budget. Wrap lettuce in aluminium foil to keep it fresher in the fridge for longer.
Some great recipe sites are Taste and All Recipes.

  • I have the best book full of handy hints called “Extraordinary uses for ordinary things” it has things like use folded up aluminum to sharpen scissors etc

Basic recipes would be a great start

    Budgeting tips

Anything to do with washing like seperating colours, pre-wash stain remover etc

Natural products to use for cleaning and keeping bugs away etc
