Hello!

Looks like i will need to spend 2 weeks in hotel with 2 and 4 yo. Did anyone go thru it in Sydney after arriving from overseas. My kids did see their father since march and they are missing him a lot but i am not sure if i will cope with them locked in one room for 14days. My 2yo is very active and full of energy girl.

Did anyone was in this situation? What to expect?

I contacted hotline but they wasnt very helpfull regarding what they will provide my room. I am worried that i will be not able to give my kids milk in the morning or they will fall of the bed during night ect.

  • Holy moly! Best of luck to you. 14 days locked up with a 2yo and a 4yo will be difficult. But i think easier then teenagers

  • I’d say definately make your needs clearly known (eg the milk you want; maybe a cot or whatever). To pass the time you might have to use movies, DVDs, screens a little more than you would normally. Maybe you can skype (or other) their father so they can talk to him on the screen; also do something for yourself (there are lots of on-line workouts that the kids might move along to as well to loose some of their energy) …

  • I hope that you have a smooth transition into quarantine – it definitely wont be easier with 2 small children. we haven’t been in quarantine so im not sure – but gosh i wish you luck

  • I’m sure that they will try to accommodate your needs especially with young children. Make sure the children have a few toys otherwise ring the Smith Family they can usually assist. Please let us know how you went.

  • Hopefully the place of quarantine can also assist with information.

  • I hope you have managed to get information from officials.

  • Sorry to hear, small hotel rooms can be very tough with active kids. Perhaps this would be a great time to just let them be on the screens, read stories etc to keep them occupied, and maybe the hotel can assist with safety issues

  • I would suggest that you see if you can contact a charity that can provide some help. You probably don’t need to worry about food, but the charity might be able to help you with some books, toys etc to entertain the kids. This may also be a time to abandon all principles about screen time.
