i feel so guilty having “me” time

  • Incorporate activities including your baby; dancing, baby swimming, a walk with the pram to the shops to the bush, doing exercises at home whilst doing your homework


  • the most important thing is diet. You can go on walks with your kids and run around with them. But also – don’t ever feel guilty for having ‘me’ time – that is an essential part of being a mum, but something that i think most of us struggle with!


  • Go on a diet that is still healthy and do small bursts of exercise if you can


  • invest in a secondhand treadmill. That way you can run/walk at night when your baby is having a bigger sleep. Also find a healthy diet that works for you.


  • You can’t be a good mum if your not happy! Enjoy the time with bub, but it can’t hurt to take an hour for yourself each day – even half an hour to walk with baby.


  • Go out for walks with your baby, or incorporate some extra activity into your daily routine. Take it slowly and don’t put too much pressure on yourself.


  • The first few months of being a mum are tough, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Eat healthy all the time. Include your kids in your workouts. Put bub in the pram and go out for a long walk. If your kids are older, take them to the park and run around with them. Squats, lunges and push ups can be done during add breaks on tv. Increase your housework levels


  • When my kids sleep at the same time I go into the garage for a run on the treadmill. Sometimes if they won’t sleep at the same time, I set my toddler up with an activity while the baby is sleeping and I do it then. I have a 2 year old and a 3 month old. If you don’t have a treadmill, putting bubs in the pram and just going for a walk most days is a great start. There are so many “baby and me” exercise classes that you could do. It makes me a better mum when I exercise, I am happier and have more energy to play with my children. When it comes to food, apps such as MyFitnessPal are great for keeping track of what you eat. I like it because it makes me think twice before eating chocolate or whatever while breastfeeding.
