I personally don’t think this is something you can teach a baby. They either take it or they won’t. I tried with my 1st and he constantly spit it out so I stopped trying
When I tried to get my daughter to take the dummy I started off by introducing it during play time. I’d make a game of it. Make silly noises and bop her on the nose. If she let me put it in her mouth I’d take it away again and eventually she started getting a good suction on the dummy when I put it in her mouth so I’d actually have to try to take it out instead of there being no resistance. Once that happened I tried to give it to her when she was comfort sucking on the boob. I think it took about 2 weeks before she took it happily and found comfort in it. The joy was when I had to change to the next size up. She didn’t like the bigger dummies so had to do it all over again.
I was always told to try a range of dummies too since they all have different shapes etc. My daughter took the first dummy I tried which was a NUK. But a friend of mine tried every brand around and her son just refused until he was closer to the 8 month mark where he took one straight away.
