Hello!

Hi mums,
I have tried bleach, lots of scrubbing and I just can’t get the stains out? Any suggestions would be great.

How do I clean stubborn stains in the toilet?

  • I sprinkle Ajax in the bowl and use the toilet brush to scrub the bowl. Then flush.

  • Try soaking the toilet in bleach gloves and scour. Put some elbow grease in. Maybe white vinegar and bicarbonate. If all else fails maybe a new toilet.

  • I recently moved into a new rental property and the toilet is very stained also. Will be trying the new Dettol mould remover I am lucky enough to be trialling for MOM. Will let you know how it goes. :)

  • Jif is cheap and very effective as a cleaner thou l would have thought bleach would have done the job!

  • Gumption or mould remover, think of ajax or bam, something strong

  • I live in an area that uses grey water for the toilet and garden. Several neighbours are having the same problem. The stains are at the very back of the toilet pan where the cistern water runs down.

  • I tried doing that until i realised that it was the rusty brown colour underneath the enamel. Normal if you use harsh chemicals and brush you evently wear away the enamel and you are left with a dirty brown colour that happens to be the actual metal of the toilet – in short you can’t do anything but get a new toilet if you own the home

  • My mum told me to use aldi toilet cleaner as I had the same problem. It did work and now we hve a new toilet I do try n keep it clean to aviod having that problem again. I hve 2 males so do hve to clean it a lot. Stol use the same product and the toilet is new again. I have a showet grout problem now.

  • CLR looks good on the TV… Maybe try and watch a few youtube videos, people post everything these days and its a great way to check out reviews!

  • We rented years ago and faced the same problem. In the end I bought a toilet pumice stone which was on a stick, put on some heavy duty gloves and got scrubbing and it was the only thing that worked. It took a few attempts but in the end the toilet was respectably clean and meant that I could stop pouring gallons of loo cleaner in whenever I had guests over! I think I bought it from one of those catalogues like Betterware that you get dropped in your mailbox a couple of times a year. If you google it you might find one online. Good luck.

  • yeah when we moved into our home, the toilet was so grubby like they had neverrrrrrrr!!!!!! cleaned it and it was disgusting! i don’t know how the real estate let them get away with that! well actually i do, because the owners’ son and friends were living here before us. well anyway, the toilet is clean now and it took ages to get clean. i used harpic bleach toilet cleaner and scrubbing, and cistern block with bleach so everytime you flush, the water sits with a little bleach in it. i did ask a cleaner friend afterwards and she uses “the white king foam for under the rim”. that stuff is so strong but will take the crap off literally! be careful using it because it is so fumey!

  • Maybe try a little CLR. other than that I don’t really know what else would work if bleach doesn’t.
