Hello!

Worst thing I hate cleaning is the bathroom because I can never clean the shower properly. Mould has grown in the grout and I can’t get rid of it. I hate using blench because the fumes burn my face and throat once I go in to the shower to shrub after leaving it alone for 5-10mins. Any tips please?

  • Vinegar truly is better than bleach at killing mold. … “That means the mold will grow back. In fact, recognizing the bleach as a ‘threat,’ the mold will grow back even stronger.” When bleach is used on porous surfaces like drywall or wood, mold membranes will move deeper into the surface to avoid the chemical.
    Another option is Borax

  • I spray my shower cubicle with bleach. Wait ten or 15 minutes and then wash the bleach off. If the mould doesn’t completely disappear, repeat this process either the same day or shortly after.

  • A toothbrush and scrubbing is one solution. Paying someone else to do a massive, thorough clean so that then you can maintain it is another option.

  • Once you get on top of the mould try white vinegar I use a chamois in the shower daily to keep it dryer so who ever has last shower for the day does a quick wipe over and it really helps with water marking on the glass too

  • Bi carb soda is worth a shot, but it may be time for the grout to be replaced, especially if it is poor quality like they use in our rental.
I also find the bathroom cleaners way too potent to use in the confined space of the bathroom.
Cleaning really regularly is the best bet but unfortunately I don’t follow my own advice!!

  • Out of all the rooms , I think the bathroom is the most petrude and messy . I find blokes just don’t even aim properly on the toilet and it is disgusting . I have been using the red/white bottle White King bathroom cleaner and it comes in a white clear gel where I leave the gel on the tiles for a couple of minutes before I rinse and scrub down . I have only a very smallshower/bathroom so comes in handy . Don’t leave anything like this for long and never overnight as it may absorb into the tiles/pipes. It always leave the shower fresh and clean after use .

  • I use steel wool. I tend to do it while I’m having a shower so it doesn’t feel like such a chore.

  • Ah yes! We have mouldy silicone. It looks TERRIBLE! We are also on septic so have to be careful what washes down the drain. My husband is just going to redo it as anything we’ve tried hasn’t worked :( hope some of these suggestion have helped you though

  • Thanks for posting this question. I hate cleaning the shower too. Must admit, I usually just spray it with Exit Mould and hope for the best! :)

  • You need a mould killer to spray on the mould & wipe clean.

  • thanks for posting this one, I have some mould in mine too lots of people say bam, but I think mine is in the white rubbery stuff not the grout

  • I have used Bam foam and a scrubbing brush and that works.

  • Bam foam is great! Give it a go. Also mr muscle works a treat.

  • I find bi carb and vinegar is excellent and I also use shower power to spray every couple of days after the final shower in the morning and it seems to keep the mould away.

  • Following this question and the answers provided. There have been some great responses! I’ll be giving them a go too!
