Hello!

My husband and I live in Brisbane northside with our 2 year old son and another on the way. We have no real support from family at the moment so I wonder how people have come find a trustworthy babysitter, if their family/friends are unavailable? Are there any websites or other venues your followers can recommend to find a sitter they can trust and rely on?

  • Do you have friends who have kids in high school ? Students often like some extra cash and there are lots of beautiful trustworthy teenagers…mine included ;)

  • I think via babysitter sites you’ll find official babysitters if that is what you want. Depending on the area where you live and if you have good friends and neighbours I personally would first ask around. Friends and neighbours may have responsible teenage daughters /nieces/nephews who are willing to babysit for a lower rate.

  • Try posting in a family daycare group on Facebook there are heaps of Brisbane pages – some providers are happy to offer an occasional after hours service.

  • I tried finding one online cuz I needed a babysitter a couple of week nights per month. After googling and comparing I was able to find the perfect sitter here (https://babysittersearch.com.au/). A whole list of choices came up and I was able to see their profiles and given access to their emails and phone numbers. I’ve been fortunate enough to find a caring babysitter for my son and really liked using this service.

  • I was able to find a reliable babysitter from this site:
    https://babysittersearch.com.au/nanny-agency/category/queensland/brisbane/
She is responsible, punctual and she easily bonded with the kids. The information and resources available in this website are also very useful/helpful. Highly recommended!

  • Maybe cact a local child care centre to see f anyone would be interested

  • Contact your local childcare centre or kindy. Quite often the staff there babysit themselves out of hours or they can recommend someone trust worthy (work experience, student teacher etc)

  • How did you go with finding one?

  • Often babysitters advertise on Facebook buy and sell sites

  • There are often sites or check with other mums at playgroup etc to see if they have some suggestions

  • i hope you found a suitable babysitter :)
