Hello!

I want to be able to turn the normal packet pasta in to fun coloured pasta. How do I make coloured pasta?

  • You could add a few drops of food dye to the water whilst you cook the pasta – I’ve never done this so I’m unsure how strong/ weak it would be on the pasta. If you were looking at multiple colours, you would need multiple pots.

  • It might be fun for the kids to eat, but it might not be too keen for the adults .

  • If you want to use hard coloured pasta, just toss it through some food colouring. If you want to eat cooked and coloured pasta, add some food colouring to the cooking water

  • There is a project on this in the arts and crafts section; definitely take a look. :)

  • In some supermarkets you can buy natural food colourings. I have never checked them out so I don’t know what is in them.

  • I notice Aldi sell little jars of squid ink if you want to colour it blue-black!

  • I just add turmeric to give it yellow color

  • It’s really easy to do! All you need is white vinegar, food coloring and pasta. Take 1 tsp of vinegar and put it into a zip lock bag. Add 20 drops of food colouring to get a nice strong colour. Add about 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of uncooked pasta noodles to the bag and give it a good shake. Let the bags sit for about 10 minutes, give them another shake and then let them sit for another 10 minutes. Pour the pasta onto waxed paper to let them dry.
