Hello!

I am in love with my 3 month old baby girl. I quit smoking when I was pregnant. after I had my bub I suffered bad anxiety and took it up again. now I’m hooked again. I’m finding it even harder to quit this time. I want to be around for my girl when I’m older. don’t want to get sick and miss out on her life because I couldn’t stop smoking. Any tips on ways to quit again.???

  • Maybe hypnosis could help you.

  • Patches are good for cutting down and to quit smoking, compared to what cigarettes cost it’s not a bad option.

  • Perhaps reduce the amount you keep in the house. Only 5 a day. Ration it out so you have have one every 2 hours etc… The next week reduce it by one and so forth! When you really think you want one… Have a glass of water, take deep breaths and think don’t give up what you want for the long term to be happy for just five minutes! Your baby needs you there… If you don’t succeed on your own see your GP! There are prescribed medications that can help!

  • it is very hard to give up ,,, I tried 5 times and had to get very sick… I had an aneurysm … a health scare done it for me, and I hope this never happens to you… the smokes done this to me… I feel so great now .. this was 7 years ago

  • I’d try calling the Quitline if you haven’t already. They have fantastic programs to help you quit and keep you on track. They send messages to support and remind you etc. They really are the experts. It’s not easy though, but it’s totally worth it. Good luck!

  • some great advice

  • Maybe seek some professional support.

  • It is a really hard addiction to quit. I am not speaking from personal experience but what worked for clients. You may be able to go cold turkey. Some people can . What does work is reduction until there is none. Week one divide your cigarettes into groups of seven days. Have the set amount you decide to have each day. allow how many by set times during the day, like so many before breakfast, how many by morning tea, how many up until lunch etc. if you smoke over the amount you do not add extra, you just go without. Every week reduce by one per day, by the time you get to only a few each day, stick with it. One cigarette per day….you will find it easier to go to zero each day. Ver heavy chain smokers have quit with this method. An alternative is to have hypnotherapy, I have known this to work. Just put aside the amount of money you save in a year and treat yourself to something you did not be able to afford before.

  • there is a new spray that you can use. you spray it into your mouth and it’s supposed to absorb really quickly taking away your need for a smoke.

  • Following this, I’m trying too. It’s not easy

  • I know it’s so hard to quit, but talk to your doctor to make a quit plan. Never give up on giving up. Try everything you can, every quit attempt is a step closer to giving up for good.

  • Nicabate might be can help you to quit smoking.

  • champix from your dr are good, and do work for 95% of people I believe

  • Speak to your Dr or you can call quit line for some more support and advice.

  • Nicotine patches (21mg) worked for me, along with e-cigs, which are just flavoured vapour. I got my ecigs from a company called “Social-lites” and they have all sorts of electronic cigarettes to help you quit. Check out social-lites.com.au … I hope it works for you. Good luck!
