Hey MoMs, I’m a first-time mum of a 6 mth old and every time we are out, whether she’s in the pram, in my arms or being changed… whatever, I get asked all sorts of random questions. “How old is she/he?” “How does she sleep?” etc. and it’s really starting to bug me. I’m a polite person and sometimes I find myself making us late because I can’t just say no. How do I stop being forced to answer their questions without making a scene or whatever? Or do you have ideas for making scenes that are hilarious and I will be laughing too hard to tell my partner about later or my daughter when she grows up?

Ask your question
  • Answer their question? With a question? (lol)

  • Some people love babies and love being social. Maybe just keep your answers short.

  • People are so anoying and nosey!

  • Get Straight to the point is the best and quickest way to answer questions. Just say she is a happy bubs who sleeps and feeds well. Just lucky i guess. Say this regardless of if it is true or not. When it comes to cute kids people just can not help themselves.

  • Be kind some people may not be able to have children and this is their way of interacting with you and your baby, i find as a stay at home mom i crave adult interaction so when i go out im always asking other mothers those questions just so i can feel like im talking something other than baby tallk, maybe you could answer the question but then politely say im sorry but im in a bit of a hurry nice talking to you, you will never get away from the inquisitive people as talking to one another is human nature.
