Hello!

Just wondering if any other mums have experienced their child climbing and walking on the couch. Both my partner and I try and stop him and tell him no. Any suggestions on how to stop him doing it?

  • You don’t tell how old your child is ? Just keep removing your child from the couch in a neutral way and tell couch is for sitting. Praise your child when it uses the coach appropriately.

  • My daughter was 6 and broke her right arm when she fell off the couch and I still have the photo with a sling for six weeks to show it . I just remembered her screaming in pain when she fell and knew somehow she broke a bone . She never did it again .

  • Keep removing him from couch when you catch him walking on it, with a firm NO to reinforce the message. Same for when you catch him climbing. Repetition is the way to go. Or do what I do to keep my dog off the couch, pile up chairs and stuff on it

  • Hope you found a solution that helps

  • How you handle it is very dependant on age…

  • have you had any luck?

  • They really are little explorers – mine tries to climb onto the coffee table. Depends on their age as to whether they will understand not to do it if you tell them or if you just need to try to block off access in different ways if they will injure themselves.

  • Any luck with stopping him?

  • I couldn’t with mine, good luck with yours…

  • Good luck with it, could never stop any of mine.

  • This would hard to do as kids do it all the time.

  • I don’t think you can avoid this.

  • I think its just a normal part of being a kid.

  • Nah they all do this!

  • Haha please tell me when you find out!
