Hello!

My husband and I have been saving really hard and we finally purchased a new car.
The car has leather seats.
I really want to maintain the leather and keep the car for a very long time.
I was just wondering if anyone else uses a leather cleaning product on there car seats to maintain them.
Any tips would be great.

  • I agree with Saddle soap, you can buy it on ebay

  • This question seemed familiar and I found my previous answer. We still use Leatherique.

  • Mcguiars leather protestant applied with a microfiber. Use at least every month.

  • I use baby wipes Im scared to use anything else incase I wreck the leather.

  • saddle soap is great for cleaning and restoring leather , removes scuff marks and makes it fresh too. Cannot remember where I got mine as use it on cream leather lounge lasts for ages. Look it up on net, horses attire, think mine was hardware shop, but sorry cannot remember

  • A good leather cleaner/conditioner that I received when I bought my leather lounge would be ideal. Keeping leather soft & conditioned prolongs the life.

  • uy the cleaner from the supermarket they suggest for using on leather couches, or when yyou go to the car wash purchase the ARMOR ALL Leather Wipes Out of the dispensers it works a treat.

  • First and formost as there may be warranty issues with non recommended products and methods. So, read your owners manual, and seek advise from the dealer. Did you purchase a trim treatment as well? When the warranty expires, do what ever you find that works best on ‘old’leather. The used fronts seats will require different treatment than the possibly less used rear seats too. Hubby the car genius since the 70’s said so.

  • Keep the seats clean by wiping them down with a damp cloth every week or so. Then check the internet for a reputable brand of leather cleaner. We bought one from Carrum Downs that kept the original smell of the leather that we used every 3 months or so and once a year we used a leather cleaner from Howe Leather. This company has since closed – but I’m sure you’ll find a reputable leather maker cleaner on the net.
We had our car with leather seats [buff colour] for 12 years and we sold it like it was still new – no stains, stretching or drying out. You have to keep the leather moisturised.

  • My husband uses a product called Leatherique on the car seats. It takes a bit of work and some time, but works really well. First you apply Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil to the seats and leave it on for as long as possible (anywhere from a day to a week) so that the oil softens and conditions the leather. You then apply Leatherique Prestine Cleaner with a cloth. This removes the oil and any dirt that has come to the surface. The final step is to remove the Prestine Cleaner solution using a clean cloth dipped in warm water. It’s best to clean the seats using Leatherique about once a year, preferably twice a year. Throughout the rest of the year I occassionally wipe down the seats with a damp cloth.
