Hello!

I can’t seem to get my four year old to potty train, we’ve tried everything from rewards systems to punishment for wetting himself, paise, potty play time and making him sit for a set period. Nothing seems to work. Please help we are desperate. His brother shows signs of wanting to train but imitates his brothers reactions to it as well.

  • We are almost finished toilet training our not quite 3 year old boy. The thing I found that encouraged him the most was underpants with the Avengers or Spiderman on them. He loves superheroes so the idea that he could wear really cool undies instead of a nappy really inspired him to use the toilet more.

  • Make it as easy as possible. Put the potty where he spends most of his day so it doesn’t seem like a burden to go to the toilet and keep him in underpants. He may have a few accidents so be prepare with the mop but let him no its OK. Let him go to the toilet with you so he can see it is perfectly normal. Also offer to get him underpants with his favourite cartoon character on them so he wants to wear them.
