Hello!

How do you encourage and what things do you do to get your toddler to brush their teeth?

  • Aaaah I could benefit from all this advice too! Mine is sometimes into it, sometimes not. Songs really help (there’s so so many on youtube), and we do it all together so he can see us doing it. We also really praise and encourage when he gets it right. If we don’t make any progress in the coming months we might try a rewards chart. (Mine really won’t let us do his for him. He screams and kicks and cries… I don’t want him to have negative associations with teeth brushing and think of it as torture!)

  • you brush your teeth, let your toddler brush/chew on theirs! do it together and when your finished your own offer to help your little one with theirs

  • We found what works best for us is doing it when he is reading books with us at night. The books distract him long enough to get them done

  • We do it together he does his kwn and when I’ve finished mine I get a turn of doing his and originally he got my toothbrush and brushed my teeth but he doesn’t anymore.

  • Sing a long so far about brushing teeth are great it help my little one get very excited about it

  • I find getting a new toothbrush has helped with getting my toddler excited about brushing. Just getting her a novelty brush every couple of months helps keep it exciting. There is also some great YouTube songs I put on to help get her excited. She likes to copy what she watches.

  • Yes I agree a song for brushing teeth is a good one

  • You caan download speaking tom (cat) and he has 2min brushing animation – it can help. My toddler loves brushing teeth.

  • I did it for them. Teeth are too important to not be cleaned properly and young children just aren’t up to the job

  • RACE THE CLOCK, RACE MUMMY OR DADDY, WHO CAN MAKE THE MOST BUBBLES BY BRUSHING, turn it into some fun not a chore. Take your child shopping for their own toothpaste and toothbrush. There was an app for kids with songs for brushing teeth that my girls used when they were younger. Hope these ideas help :)
