Hello!

Can anyone help? How do you get Dulux gloss paint off clothes? I have tried washing, scrubbing and it is not coming off.
Thank you.

  • Have you tried wiping with turps or metho? Use on an inconspicuous spot first just in case it affects the garment in a negative way. If that doesn’t work, pop it onto your cupboard and use next time you paint so you don’t ruin something else

  • Yes I think you’ll have much luck with metho!

  • I don’t think I would risk it on good clothes but I know we used to use turpentine. If you are painting outside it will get it off concrete too. Dulux is not the only brand you would have the problem with.

  • I think you’ll have luck with metho.

  • Use thinners or turps but that might take the colour out.

  • Method always works a treat.

  • have used mineral turps to get small paint s spots off but it leaves an awful smell that is hard to get rid off. try googling for an answer.

  • I will look at the supermarket for the orange oil but would that leave an oily mark!!??

  • Thanks CARAMELLODREAM for the tip on the book.

  • Good question. I have always worn old clothes because I always make a mess! Good luck getting it off your clothes.

  • I think that turps or metho would do it …. but they are harsh!

  • I would try all of the above and if all else fails borrow a copy of Shannon Lush – her books have the answer to everything

  • Paint is best removed as soon as it happens. Gloss is tricky. Is it oil based or water based? Water based gloss can be almost removed if washed out immediately but most of the time we are not aware of it until the paint has dried ,then it is very difficult to remove. Oil based gloss is harder because you cant wash it out successfully!. I always use very old clothes when painting and keep them for that purpose only! I would love to know the name of this stuff in the little orange bottle. lol!!!

  • oh yeah i have seen that orange stuff! well painters don’t have clean clothes lol. Make sure that you don’t spend more than the shirt is worth trying to get it clean

  • I would agree with the Orange stuff! It is a little oily but I cannot think of the name of it either… Maybe orange power or something along those lines…it is in a smallish spritzer like bottle
