Hello!

My son (3) seems to have these dry scabs on his head that I can’t seem to get rid of. I have been told to use baby oil after I wash his hair and it hasn’t made a difference. Suggestions?

  • Baby massage oil worked for us – rub it into the scalp once a day, and after 2-3 days the scabs start to lift.

  • I would be taking him to a doctor to find out what’s causing them. Scabs don’t usually hang around unless they’re something more serious. Most scabs dry up, fall off and that’s the end of it

  • Try rubbing some Bio-Oil on them. I use it on all my cuts and scraps to heal without scarring.

  • I would go to a GP to investigate why they are there, and following that seek the treatment recommended. If you have already established why they are there, the I would use plain old olive oil or similar

  • First, you would need to figure out what’s caused the scabs in the first place. It could be some kind of mite that needs medical attention.

  • also my friend’s child has this and she picks them off lol

  • Try Nutri Rich Oil its got apricot and almond oil and great for other uses as well like scars, dry lips, cracked heels http://www.nutrimetics.com.au/tracybaker can order online and will get delivered straight to you home or PO Box

  • I use moo goo scalp cream, I find it really great and it smells good too

  • i agree with the baby oil for cradle cap but he is 3. Well if he has short hair (not lice), then it’s most likely scabs from scratching an itchy scalp due to dandruff so try anti dandruff shampoo and it should be looking better by 2-3 washes as the scalp heals and he stops scratching.

  • Put baby oil on before washing his hair, leave it sit for a minute or two then comb or massage the scalp to lift the dry patches before washing his hair.

  • i would be going to see your GP before putting anything else on it incase it makes it even worse.

  • It is most likely dermatitis, i have scabs on my scalp too and i just presume they are the same ones i get on my body. I’d see a GP.

  • I rub pure olive oil into my sons scalp and that works :)

  • If you google Craddle Cap, there are lots of home remedies.

  • Coconut oil works great as well…. Good luck…
