  • As long as they have manners, know they are lucky.. no such thing

  • I think you can tell if you’re kids are spoiled – they wouldn’t appreciate what they have and always want something better.

  • if they get everything that they want, and are ungrateful and expect more.

  • Depends on how you define spoiled. But I suppose you mean when our kids are unthankful, always want more or different, scream and shout or wince and whine when they don’t get what they want, etc.
We can prevent this behaviour when we teach them gratitude, by looking at the things we have, practicing mindfulness from a young age, please and thank you, being consequent in our approach and set limits and boundaries.

  • You should know. If your kids behave like demon brats, if other people don’t want to be around them, if they never get invited anywhere – those are signs.

  • For us it was when my eldest was 4. I got her some new clothes and surprised her with a new cardigan at school. When we got home she threw a tantrum because she wanted more clothes and didn’t see them upon walking into the house! We fixed the issue and she’s not spoilt anymore.

  • Depends on your definition of spoilt. I think my kids are a little ‘overindulged’ when it comes to toys – but then again it depends on who I compare them to. I dont think anyone should (or has the right to) tell someone their child is spoilt, for after all when something is spoilt it is no longer good, children are never a closed book.

  • I know my kids are getting a little too spoilt when the tantrums become more frequent as they are expecting more and more. But I tend to nip it in the bud quickly to bring them back to reality

  • Some children are never spoken too If they do or say something wrong. I know one whose Mum never says “no”. Her daughter has made it known to a lot of people that her Mum never says no. She throws a huge tantrum if her supervisor at Daycare says “no” to her for any reason and explains to her the reason why. Her Mum has asked various people about how to correct the behaviour but to our knowledge hasn’t tried at all. They have whatever meal she chooses including a lot of take-away.

  • We are all guilty of spoiling our kids in some form or another, sometimes it is material things sometimes what they get away with. I think as long as your kids appreciate what they have, do not want for too much, and understands the value of money and time, and know why they need to be self-disciplined in many things you will do okay. Everyone has a different opinion of what being spoilt is.

  • When they have too many things and don’t appreciate them.

  • No one has told me, but I think I may have spoiled them a little,
I hate to see my children acting entitled. So we talk about being good community citizens, we donate time to charities and we try to educate our kids about privilege.
