I’m a stay at home dad and would like to know how mothers organise their days.

  • I wish I had to organise my day. I’m retired and find it hard to fill my days. I’m so bored it’s causing me to become angry and agitated and depressed I think

  • I’m not sure you can. There are so many unexpected elements to a mums day, you just can’t account for all of them. I always just took it as it came

  • When I had my last bub, I was a SAHM for 10 month.
I also have a school aged child.
To be organised, if I know I had somewhere to go the next day, I would pack the nappy bag the night before, ensuring I packed whatever was necessary dependant on what I left the house for.
I also would have a snack bag packed, to grab as I left the house.
Diaries are important, whether you use the one on your phone or write in a book.

  • Also, having set days for certain chores and activities is a good idea. Routine works well for adults and kids. You should feel and be more productive if you can tick items off a list.

  • I have made a routine for my child from 7am to 9pm. It includes potty training, feeding, playing, reading books and teaching numbers and letters of the alphabet, etc. The 2 naps he has during the day are ‘me time.’ I can either do housework or just chill and surf the net!

  • A planner and schedule helps with organising a day. Setting up times for chores, activities and free time. It helps with getting everything done and enjoying free time.
