Hello!

I like to save jars to reuse for jams etc but some labels are so stubborn, I can’t get them off.. any suggestions appreciated.

  • Soak them in hot water and when there is still a residue of glue left use some Eucalyptus oil.

  • Soak them in hot water and leave for at least half an hour. They should peel off easily.

  • Probably a basic answer but I just soak mine in a sink of hot soapy water and come back later! They usually come off easily.

  • I usually leave it in hot water for a while.

  • Make a paste of equal parts baking soda and oil. Rub the paste all over the jars and leave for a few minutes. The oil softens the glue and the baking soda adds a little abrasiveness. Wipe jars with a clean cloth and both paste and glue come away!

  • Warm soapy water and then eucolyptus oil on a dry clothe.

  • I’ve just seen an article here on MoMs about removing jar labels. Make a paste of bicarbonate and water I think it was. Apply and leave fir a while

  • I use Nail Polish remover. Pour some on a cotton ball and dab at the label to soften. Then coat label all over, leave for 5 minutes and wash off in hot soapy water. Hopefully it will work for you, some labels are really tough to get off and need a couple of goes at it.

  • Soak the jars then use eucalyptus oil to remove excess glue.

  • like everyone else soak it in water for a while. The longer you leave it the easier it comes off. To get rid of the sticky residue I use eucalyptus oil

  • I soak the jars in warm water and then remove excess glue with eucalyptus oil.

  • Once the jar labels have soaked in the water, the labels should easily peel off. If not then, I soak stubborn labels overnight in the sink and then rub a little detergent on them and gently ease off any residue with a dish cloth. This method always work and presto – clean and label free jars ready for repurposing.

  • Soaking jars with labels in a sink full of hot soapy water always works well.

  • I don’t know if it’s very good for the dishwasher but when I found jars had placed in there than most of the labels came off.

  • Try spraying the label with cooking oil. Let it sit for a few hours before running it through the dishwasher.
