Hello!

Need some help from other mums with little climbers. My little man 12 months is a climber. He can already climb up on our lounge chairs and then he climbs up on my side table. Both the chairs and the table a high enough to cause injury to him. I constantly am taking him off the chairs (which takes up a considerable amount of my time and so housework doesn’t get done.) and telling him no in a firm voice and distracting him with toys but within seconds his back on there. He gets really excited when i come to take him off thinking it’s a game. He doesn’t like being confined to the playpen because it means he can’t play with his sister and the playpen is not big enough to put the chairs into it. Any ideas as to how to discourage him. How do you stop a 1 year old from climbing everything?

  • You could put some foam climbing blocks in your living area and direct and redirect him to that

  • It’s just one more step on the ladder to growing up. He’ll eventually tire of it and move onto your next heart attack adventure

  • I would love to know also, i think they stop in their own time

  • Really very interesting comments on this!

  • it’s apart of learning. give him a childs playest to climb on and get him away from what he is trying to climb on with a firm no

  • You have to be very firm and do not give up!
