  • Bearing in mind that your little one is only 14 months old it will probably be hard to find the cause.
Managing to use a mouth guard may not be practical because of new teeth in gums causing gums to change constantly too. Do you know if your little one dreams at all or is a bad sleeper? If a Dentist can’t help you I would suggest consulting your GP or a Paediatrician

  • My child’s dentist said that grinding may be caused by worms!

  • Good answers! It was interesting reading the comments to this!

  • I have no idea! I have a hubby who grinds his teeth whilst asleep, so hard I’m surprised he still has teeth! So if anyone has any tips on how to stop dads from grinding teeth, I would love to hear them

  • My son does this at night, i have worked out it happens more if he is emothional the day beforehand.

  • A question for the dentist or GP. Is it an unconscious action while they sleep or consciously during the day? Good luck.

  • I think you may have to visit the dentist they can fit a mouthguard type thing to stop them.

  • Did you find a way to stop the grinding ??
My son is 4 and has been grinding his teeth for about 18 months now and it seems to be getting worse.

  • My son does this and from what the dentist have told me is that you cant stop them doing it. Does your child do it deliberately or in their sleep?

  • Hope you managed to find the answer you were looking for.

  • Mouth guard is a great idea!

  • I think it might be a phase and hopefully grow out of it

  • It’s the worst noise in the world isn’t it?

  • Not sure – my sister in law took her son to the dentist and he had a covering put on top of his teeth.

  • I’m not sure I would want to use a mouth guard at a young age, they will grow out of it in time.
