What strategies do you have for building up their confidence and self esteem?

  • Thank you for the update and glad to hear you’re making progress.


  • Buy them a journal and ask them to write 20 things they are grateful for each day. This might help them to realise there’s a lot to be thankful for rather than focusing on the negatives.


  • Get them out of the house, get them out of their comfort zone if possible. Trying new things is a great way to improve self esteem


  • Thanks for the answers – we have been working on little steps and getting there slowly but surely.


  • I would get them out and about just doing different things, I know that worked fir me


  • This is so hard to do – the person with low self esteem rarely admits to it. Unless you are very close family, I don’t see how you can help because you wouldn’t realise it. The one time a close worker admitted low self esteem to me was when he was inebriated. He refused to believe he had said what he said and when I and my partner tried to help, he refused that help. Two days later he hanged himself. All I can say is – tread very warily in this situation.
