  • It’s a lovely activity with kids !

  • We tried it at a library school holiday event. It involved rubber bands and fabric dye. There are probably lots of Youtube videos with instructions on how to tie dye specific patterns.

  • Love the look of tie dye,l did it when l was young and the effect was amazing!

  • A friend tie dyed some clothes recently at my place. She found a website which showed what pattern to tie te clothes in to achieve certain results and also which section to put each colour on to get best result. The clothes had to be washed and line dried and then tumble dried and then washed again (something like that). Is more worth while doing if you do multiple items at once

  • I remember doing it at Girls’ Brigade. We had different dyes mixed in bowls. the wound string around the areas of the material we didn’t want that colour to go into. My result was a white, pale green and yellow cushion cover. I can’t remember whether we had to let the material start to dry before we put the material in an additional colour or not.

  • Spotlight has a tie dying kit for beginners – might be a good place to start as it will come with everything you need and instructions.

  • yes so many vids on youtube covering this topics and superr easy to do.

  • Going to have a look at spotlight and lincraft thanks mums

  • I remember doing this in school. I remember you put elastic bands around areas of the item of clothing you want to dye and dunk it in the dye. Let it dry, remove the elastic bands and add new ones in different places and dye a different colour. For something so simple, it’s really effective

  • Lincraft also sell the dyes and plain white t-shirts, lots of dipping and rinsing. Some stores have an instruction video playing.

  • You can get tie dye kits from Spotlight which have all the instructions etc :)
