Hello!

We have been invited to a Halloween party for the first time and I’ve decided to take my kids. Everyone will be going trick or treating afterwards. How many other mums are doing it? I’m not totally sold on the idea yet….

  • I always take my kids trick or treating! They absolutely love dressing up and its such a fun afternoon/evening. Everyone is in good spirits and people actually talk/ get to know their neighbours etc…. I think its great

  • We don’t celebrate halloween and my kids don’t go trick or treating.

  • I’m not American so don’t see the point.

  • its become really big in our area, the houses run out of sweets quick. kids love it

  • Regardless of tradition and the origins are Pagan and not American….it is all about having fun and not to be taken too seriously. A party is an opportunity for togetherness with other people which is a good thing.

  • Trick or treating is fun and totally optional – so have fun!

  • Nor am I! Firstly it’s an American tradition, we don’t need it, why can’t we invent our own? And secondly…..collecting treats from so many unknown people, there’s too many weirdos out there

  • Never ever did this. Too American for me, Aussie Aussie Aussie all the way for me. Not to mention all the weirdos out there who could tamper with the lollies some way

  • We drop flyers off around out block the week before and let people now to hang something out the front if they are ok with tick or treaters knocking!

  • These days it’s more rare because of the violence ect so I would never let my daughter go on her own. All kids should be with an adult if trick or treating.

  • We don’t do the walk about, but we are one of the houses people come to for trick or treats! We have all the decorations set out so people know we are doing it..

  • Yes we do each year. Bit of fun, kids dress up and we meet new neighbours.

  • I don’t agree to it! I teach them stranger danger so am not going to let them knock on strangers doors for a lolly!

  • I’m not into trick or treating at all, and in my area, most people would be confused, annoyed or simply unprepared for kids knocking on their doors wanting lollies!

I think there are already enough occasions where we are pressured to spend lots of money and the kids eat too much sugar, without halloween becoming yet another major event like this!

  • So lovely to hear you had a great time
